learning french (part 1 )

In these era of globalization, every people try to study the other language in their life. The most popular language is English. Beside of that, many people also try to learn the other languange such as French.
Before we learn about French, we have to know basic things in French. The explanation bellow will help you to understand about French

Here are the way how to pronounce the French’s letters:

French has three written accent, they are :

1. Accent aigu ( ′ )
This accent is only used in the vowel e so it becomes é. Letter é has the same sound as in meja, besok. Example : la vérité (truth), parlé (which is spoken).


2. Accent grave ( ` )
This accent is mostly used in the vowel e. The sound of è can be found in the word kader. Example : le père (father), lève (raise).
This accent is also used in the vowel a and u. This accent doesn’t change the sound of the letter, It only differentiate the meaning of the same pronounce, such as : à (to, at) – a (have), là (there) – la ( this/that, she (fem) ), où (where) – ou (or)

3. Accent circonflexe ( ^ )
This accent can be used in all of the vowel ( â, ê, î, ô, û ). It usually makes the sound of the vowels longer. Example : l’ âge (age), être (is), l’ île (island), le Rhône (Rhone River), sûr (sure).


Beside of these kind of accents, French also has cedille ( s ) which is put under the ‘c’ : ç. Cedille used to give the sounds s in front of the a, o or u. Example : français (French), le garcon (son, waiter), reçu (accepted).



In French, the word is classified into 2 groups. Those are masculin and feminin. This classification is only applied in the noun. The examples are:

• Masculin
Blanc (white), bon (good), doux (sweet), faux (wrong), frais (fresh), sec (dry), capoc (give up), escarpin ( shoes for dancing), etc.

• Feminin
Blance (white), bonne (good), douce (sweet), fausse (wrong), fraîche (fresh), sèche (dry), gorgée (swallow), etc.
